Hud Hud Award Award

Breaking News: “National Award 2011 to Dabang” Oh sorry! It’s double G i.e. Dabangg. My bad! Yes it’s true and the movie got the highest profile award (Indian) in the Wholesome Entertainment Category. After so many nominations and award winning at many National and International level award ceremonies, it’s time for more action at one of the most prestigious award.
It may not be in the league of movies like Pather Panchali, Raincoat or the last year recipient Paa which stressed on the burning issues, but it has got everything, our junta wants to watch. From hilarious dialogues to pleasant melodies, from powerful action packed scenes to dramatic emotions, from Sallu ki shirt faadu performance to Munni ki badnaami!! What more could an audience ask for? And adding to the glare is the debutant’s heart throbbing dialogue (she uttered only once!!) “thappad se darr nahi lagta saahab, pyaar se lagta hai”.
If we talk about the learning’s, yes there are so many. People have learnt a new way of putting shades at their back. I remember when I came out watching it; the effect of the style was so fast that some of the college students had kept their glares at the back of their t-shirts. Crazy fans! News came of some of the policemen (read UP and Bihar) have started keeping the kind of moustaches Sallu had kept in the movie. Go to any marriage, party or birthday bash these days, you would definitely find the crowd shaking their body on the high beats of Munni Badnaam. Moreover, the primary class students are getting learnt the difference between the active and passive speech by humming some words of “tere mast mast do nain”. At least now we must agree to the decision of the jury.
But eyebrows have been raised by some of the people. They are of the view that the level of respect for the award has decreased by honouring that to the film like Dabangg. According to them, it is a full time entertainer without any quality and social message to the viewers. I would ask these people to ask those viewers who have watched the movie a number of times on theatre, helped in increasing the weight of revenues generation for the producers (and also increased the size of hole in their own pockets!).
Anyhow, whether it was fair or unfair on anybody’s part, the award has already been given to one of the biggest blockbuster of 2010. And our Robinhood Pandey ji with his big brother is dancing all around on the beats of Hud Hud Award Award!!
